Italy is one of the oldest wine producing regions in the world. The nature of the place - the influence of Mediterranean sunshine and mountain air currents on the hillsides of the elongated peninsula and islands – its long history, its millenary cultural traditions favour what seems to be an almost spontaneous culture of wine. Nowadays Italy not only produces and exports more wine than any other country but it offers the greatest variety of types, ranging from nearly every colour, flavour and style imaginable.
